8.3.09 Connect to Team Foundation Server (TFS)

Pre-Condition: qTest Explorer currently supports TFS version 2008, 2010, 2012, and Team Foundation Service.

  • You need to install either Microsoft Team Explorer or Visual Studio on your machine in order for qTest Explorer to integrate with TFS version 2008, 2010, or 2012.
  • You need to install Microsoft Team Explorer 2012 and the latest Visual Studio 2012 in order for qTest Explorer to integrate with Team Foundation Service.
  1. Select "Team Foundation Server 2008", "Team Foundation Server 2010" or "Team Foundation Server 2012" tracker type, enter connection name, Web Service URL, and login information. Contact your TFS administrator to get the correct TFS service URL. For example: http://qasfoundation:8080/tfs

  2. Click the Test Connection button to test the connection. You will receive a confirmation message next to the Test Connection button if the connection is established successfully.

  3. Click Save to save settings for subsequent use. The connection is saved and listed on the Settings screen and on Submit dropdown list. To submit the defect to TFS, refer to Submit Defect to TFS 2012, Submit Defect to TFS 2010 or Submit Defect to TFS 2008 for details.
