8.4.2 Set Template Options

You can select the different templates to be used by qTest Explorer to generate the defect and session reports.

  1. Click Settings icon at the right side of the qTest Explorer Editor's title bar.

    Alternatively, click Settings from the Explorer Context Menu.

  2. Click Submission Option.

  3. Click Browse to select the template files for Defect and Session.

  4. Click Add New in either Defect Templates or Session Templates to add more templates for defect or session, if needed.

  5. Click Save to save the settings for subsequent use.

 

Customized Defect/Session Templates

You can modify the templates to be used for exporting Defect/Session Reports. These templates need to be defined in Microsoft Word format.

The following parameters are supported for Defect Template:

Parameter Description
@{date} The date when this defect report is exported
@{title} Title of defect
@{description} Defect description
@{trace} This would list out all screens along with their respective steps
@{environment} System Information, Application Information and Additional Information would be displayed here in correspondence to how you select them in the Environment Tab of Explorer Editor
@{screen}

The screen name would be displayed here

Note: due to their relationship, the parameters @{screen}, @{screen_image} and @{screen_details} need to be defined within one table.

According to how many screens there are in the Session, the number of table would be generated accordingly to reflect the data

The following parameters are supported for Session Template:

Parameter Description
@{date} The date when this session report is exported
@{name} Name of Session
@{description} Session description
@{testers} The qTest account that responsible for starting the Session
@{planned_duration} The planned time of this Session
@{actual_duration} The actual executed time of this Session
@{time_break_down} The pie chart to show all utilized time types and their respective duration
@{notes} All notes within the Session, regardless whichever screens they belong to, would be displayed here
@{summary} The overall summary of this Session
@{defects} All the associated defects of this Session
@{testcases} All the associated test cases of this Session
