5.1.13 Manage Attachments during Defect Submission

When a user submits a defect to any defect tracker, s/he can click the Attachments link on the submission form to open the Manage Attachments dialog. This utility allows the user to manage qTest Explorer's output as well as additional files for better defect reporting.

Manage qTest Explorer Output

Attach qTest Explorer output to tracker is set as default. To store the trace file in another location, a folder on Confluence or a network shared folder that your teammates can access is an example.

Embed link to qTest Explorer output only

  1. Click the Embed link(s) to qTest Explorer output only

  2. The Save As dialog appears.  Browse for a save location and with the format selected from the Submit Options dialog.

  3. Upon completion, the link to the qTest Explorer output file appears on Manage Attachments form.

    The link will be added as a URL to the last line of the Defect Description field of the defect record once submitted to the defect tracking system.

Embed Active Storage's link to qTest Explorer output only

If a storage service (Dropbox, Confluence, or SharePoint) has already been configured from the Storage Settings, this option to embed the storage link to qTest Explorer will be available. For example, if you have configured Confluence as a storage, then you can see the Embed Confluence link(s) to qTest Explorer output only option:

  1. Click the Embed Confluence link(s) to qTest Explorer output only.

  2. Upon completion, the link to the qTest Explorer output file will appear on the Manage Attachments form.

    The link will be added as a URL to the last line of the Defect Description field of the defect record once submitted to the defect tracking system.

Manage Additional Files

  1. Click the Add more File(s) button and browse for preferred files.

  2. The added files will be attached to the defect record of the tracker by default. Check the Link Only check box to embed the path of the files' location to Defect Description field or click the Remove icon to remove added files.
