3.7 Exporting Requirements

qTest allows users to export Requirements data as a Details report, Traceability Matrix report and with Test Execution data.

Requirement Details Report

You can export Requirements into HTML or Excel file

    1. On the Requirements tree, select Requirements to export
    2. Click on Export Requirements icon on the toolbar, select Requirement Details report

  1. On Export Requirements Wizard modal:
      • Select Requirement fields to be exported by moving them from the left to the right selection box
      • Reorder display of Requirement fields in exported Excel file using Move Up and Move Down buttons
      • Select format for exported Requirements file as HTML or XLS
      • If you select XLS format, you can check to merge requirements into one sheet. Otherwise, each module will be exported as a separate sheet containing its Requirements
      • Click on Reset button to have default Requirement fields list for export
      • Click on OK button to proceed or Cancel button to cancel

  HINT:

  • The selected modules must have the same level on the Requirement tree, eg. same level of parent modules or child modules in the same module, etc. The Export Requirement function will be disabled if you select modules from different levels, eg. a parent module and some child modules of another parent module
  • You can only select individual requirements of ONE module to export
  • Select Root to export all available requirements in the project

Requirements Traceability Matrix Report

After you define the association between Requirements and Test Cases, you can export Requirements Traceability Matrix to view Requirements coverage with Test Cases

    1. On the Requirements tree, select Root or Requirements Modules to export
    2. Click on Export Requirement Reports icon and select Requirements Traceability Matrix report

  HINT:

  • The selected modules must have the same level on the Requirement tree, eg. same level of parent modules or child modules in the same module, etc. The Export Requirement function will be disabled if you select modules from different levels, eg. a parent module and some child modules of another parent module

  • Select Root to export all available requirements in the project

Requirements and Test Execution Report

After you define associations between Requirements and Test Cases, qTest will automatically link associated Requirements and Test Cases to corresponding Test Runs. The Requirements and Test Execution Results Report provides Requirements coverage with associated Test Cases, Test Runs Results, and Defects in an excel Matrix

To export Requirements and Test Execution Results Report:

    1. On the Requirements tree, selects either Root or Requirements Modules to export
    2. Click on Export Requirement Reports and select Requirements and Test Execution Results report

    1. The exported Matrix will contain 2 sections: Requirements and their Associated Test Cases & Test Runs
      • Requirements Section includes a list of selected Requirements with their associated objects, including: Associated Jira Issue IDs (if integrated with Jira Requirements), direct Module, Target Release/Build, Requirement Status, number of Linked Test Cases, number of Linked Test Runs
      • Associated Test Cases & Test Runs section includes Associated Test Cases, Associated Test Runs, Test Environment of individual Associated Test Runs, Test Log number, Testers of individual Associated Test Runs, Executed Start/End Time of individual Associated Test Runs, Test Runs Result Status, and Associated Defects
