Copying and Linking Features in Jira

If you have existing feature files in your Git repository, then we want to enable you to reuse them with qTest Scenario - BDD for Jira.  Why would you want to reuse your existing feature files?

  • Copying existing content from one feature to another is a quick way to kick-start a Gherkin template 
  • Lining existing feature files allows you to already created features and not have to recreate for Jira issues

Copy Existing Feature Content

When you need to quickly copy content from one feature into another, you don't want to start from scratch.  Select the search icon in the qTest Scenario editor and then find a feature file you want to copy. 

  1. Select the Search icon 
  2. Enter in search criteria and select the feature you want
  3. Click "Copy Contents to Issue" button
  4. Edit template and then rename feature file to save as a new feature

 

Link Existing Feature Files

If you have existing feature files in your VCS, you can seamlessly link them to Jira issues to show traceability. 

Link to Jira Issue

Select the search icon in the qTest Scenario editor and then find a feature file you want to copy. 

  1. Select the Search icon 
  2. Enter in search criteria and select the feature you want
  3. Click "Link to Issue" button 

Unlink from Jira Issues

If you need to unlink a feature file from a Jira issue, you can do this through the search icon location.

  1. Select the Search icon 
  2. Click "Unlink from issue" button
