Submitting Test Case

To submit a test case to qTest Manager's test design module, click on Submit Test Case button. The Submit Test Case dialog will be shown as below screenshot.

Submit New Test Case

Select Create new Test case option and input below information for the new test case:

  • Test module: select a module that the new test case will be submitted to
  • Name: name of the test case
  • Description: description of the new test case
  • Precondition: precondition of the new test case
  • Screen: select the screens whose actions will be used to generate test steps. Possible values are: None, All screens or Selected screens 
  • Optionally check/uncheck the check box Group all actions of a screen (Uncheck to have each action created as a step)
  • You can also edit description and/or expected result of each test step
  • You can optionally select whether you want to attach the screenshot to each test step by checking/unchecking the attachment check box
  • You can delete an unwanted test step by clicking on Delete link in the Action column

When you are done, click on Submit button to submit new test case to qTest

Update Existing Test Case

In Test case preview screen, select Update existing Test case option.

Next, input below information for the new test case:

  • Test module: select a module containing test case you want to update
  • Name: select name of the test case that belongs to the selected test module
  • Description: optionally edit the description of the test case
  • Precondition: optionally edit the precondition of the test case
  • Screen: select screens whose actions will be used to generate test steps. Possible values are: None, All screens or Selected screens 
  • Optionally check/uncheck the check box Group all actions of a screen (Uncheck to have each action created as a step)
  • You can also edit description and/or expected result of each test step
  • You can optionally select whether you want to attach the screenshot to each test step by checking/unchecking the attachment check box
  • You can delete an unwanted test step by clicking on Delete link in the Action column

When you are done, click on Submit button to update the test case.

Note: when updating an existing test case, all existing test steps will be replaced by the test steps in Test case preview screen

Export Test Case to CSV

Select Create new Test case option and input below information for the new test case:

  • Test module: select a module that the new test case will be associated to
  • Name: name of the test case
  • Description: description of the test case
  • Precondition: precondition of the test case
  • Screen: select the screens whose actions will be used to generate test steps. Possible values are: None, All screens or Selected screens 
  • Optionally check/uncheck the check box Group all actions of a screen (Uncheck to have each action created as a step)
  • You can also edit description and/or expected result of each test step
  • You can optionally select whether you want to attach the screenshot to each test step by checking/unchecking the attachment check box
  • You can delete an unwanted test step by clicking on Delete link in the Action column

When you are done, click on Export to CSV button to export test case to CSV format.
