Copy or Move Objects in Test Execution

Copy and Move Test Cycles 

To copy or move test cycles, you need Create/Edit Test Cycles permissions.  You can quickly copy or move test cycles within a project using the Context Menu or Drag & Drop function.

A. Copy/Move Test Cycles using Context Menu

  1. On the Test Execution tree, right click one or more test cycle(s) and select Copy/Cut to duplicate/move a test cycle
  2. Right-click on the Root or a target Release and select the Paste option.  The selected test cycles are copied/moved to the Root or target Release.              

B. Copy/Move Test Cycles using Drag & Drop function

  1. On the Test Execution tree, click to select one or more test cycles to copy/move.
  2. Hold Ctrl + Drag the selected test cycle(s), and then drop to the Root or target release to copy test cycle(s).
  3. Drag the selected test cycle(s) and drop to the Root or target release to move selected test cycle(s).              

HINTS:  

  • You cannot copy or move a Closed test cycle.
  • All objects (i.e., test suites and test runs) under the copied/moved test cycle are copied/moved as well.
  • The target release of copied/moved test cycles and objects under test cycles (i.e., test suites and test runs) will be changed accordingly.

Copy and Move Test Suites

To copy/move test suites, you need a Create/Edit Test Suites permission.  You can quickly copy or move test suites within a project using Context Menu or Drag & Drop function.

A. Copy/Move Test Suites using Context Menu

  1. On the Test Execution tree, right click one or multiple test suites and select Copy/Cut to duplicate/move a test suite.
  2. Right-click the destination (Root, release, test cycle) and select the Paste option.  The selected test suites will be copied/moved to the destination.

B. Copy/Move Test Suites using Drag & Drop function

  1. On the Test Execution tree, click to select one or more test suites to copy/move.
  2. Hold Ctrl + Drag the selected test suite(s), then drop to the destination (Root, release, test cycle) to copy the test suite(s).
  3. Drag the selected test suite(s) and drop to the destination (Root, release, test cycle) to move the selected test suite(s)

HINT: All test runs under the copied/moved test suites are copied/moved as well and retain the same version at the time of the copy.  The target release of copied/moved test suites and their test runs are changed accordingly.

  2. Right-click a target location (release, test cycle, or test suite) and select the Paste option.                  


B. Copy/Move Test Runs using Drag & Drop function

  1. On the Test Execution tree, click to select one or more test runs to copy/move.
  2. Hold Ctrl + Drag the selected test run(s), then drop to the destination (Root, release, test cycle, test suite) to copy the test run(s).
